From Prosecutor to Planner
Jason began his career as a felony prosecutor in Albuquerque, New Mexico--where he lives now with his wife and children. Over the years, he tried and won a number of high profile cases in court rooms across the state as a member of the Special Victims Unit and the New Mexico Attorney General's Office. His purpose was always to represent those without a voice: childhood victims of sexual assault and human trafficking, and those who were exploited over the Internet. In his role as a prosecutor, Jason learned the value of cultivating meaningful, personal and professional relationships. He has been on the Board of Directors for Albuquerque's Rape Crisis Center for half a decade, and he was the President of the Board when the Center merged with the Albuquerque Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. He continues to be as involved as he can with those who positively serve his community.

In 2021, Jason shifted his focus to representing individuals whose civil rights had been violated by the government. He worked with surviving families of those who had passed away while incarcerated in jails and prisons across New Mexico. In this capacity he began embracing the importance of Estate Planning--to those whose lives tragically ended too early--and to those they left behind. But he also learned that there is more to Estate Planning than simply deciding 'who receives what' when we pass. His clients often received large settlements and needed help protecting the proceeds for themselves and for their families for years to come. In response, Jason spent more and more time learning the estate planning tools and honing his craft. What started as a practical response to his clients' needs soon blossomed into a passionate and rewarding practice.

Recently, Jason's father was diagnosed with dementia--a harrowing disease that is swiftly impacting more and more families at unprecedented rates. As Jason and his family have come to grips with the realities that accompany parental care and end-of-life transitions, he has come to appreciate fully how powerful a well-crafted Estate Plan can be. Jason's family will benefit greatly from the time and thought put into their own Estate Plan, and Jason cannot imagine a single, more powerful piece of work in this profession than to help others achieve the same.
